What is Rust?
Rust is a systems programming language that runs blazingly fast, prevents segfaults, and guarantees thread safety. It's the language behind Solana's validator, components of Polkadot, and much of the critical infrastructure at firms like Paradigm and Jump Crypto. It's notoriously hard to learn — especially the ownership model and borrow checker — but once it clicks, you have superpowers.
Who are the mentors?
RustMate mentors are senior software engineers actively working at top crypto and systems firms — including Paradigm, Jump Crypto, Solana Labs, and Chainalysis. They write production Rust daily. We vet all mentors to ensure they have deep, hands-on Rust experience in real-world environments.
How does the session work?
After booking, you'll receive a calendar invite with a video call link. At the scheduled time, you and your mentor hop on a live call. You can share your screen, paste code, ask questions, work through a specific problem, or review a concept. The hour is entirely yours — no agenda, no slides, just live coding and conversation.
How do I book?
Click the 'Book a Session — $50' button anywhere on this page. You'll be taken to a secure Stripe checkout. After payment, you'll receive a confirmation email with next steps for scheduling your session with an available mentor.
What should I know before the session?
You should have a basic understanding of at least one programming language (Python, JavaScript, Go, C — anything works). You don't need prior Rust experience, but having a specific goal or question makes the session more productive. Even just saying 'I want to understand ownership and borrowing' is a great starting point.
Is the session recorded?
No. Sessions are never recorded. What happens in your pair-programming session stays between you and your mentor. This keeps the environment open and judgment-free — ask the 'dumb' questions without worrying about a recording existing.
